March is here which means spring is coming too, and I am so ready for it! I need some warm, green spring vibes in my body! I can’t wait to smell the first grass mowing, crop inspecting greenhouses barefoot, and see color in the fields. But get ready, I have some things to share with you this week!
You can almost feel the farm winding up for the season. We had heaters installed in houses 2 and 3 this week. This will help us have more control on our winter mother mum stock. The amazing farm team prepped beds with compost, worked on irrigation, and planted this year's lisianthus crop. The first big spring planting will begin soon so it feels great to knock these things out so early! We have really perfected our farming rhythm and communication and one of my favorite things is sharing what I’ve learned over the years. I have had so much fun with Mackenzie and Elizabeth checking the farm to see if the flowers are going to show up according to the schedule we want– (spoiler) they never do. However, they are coming and while it may be too early for peonies, we do have the most AMAZING specialty tulips available. They are so fluffy and beautiful that they can pass for peonies at a quick glance.
