Our 6th Annual Flower Fair!

The farm has been SO busy this week which is kinda ironic since most flower farmers are slower than molasses this time of year! We have been so busy getting this year's mum crop planted in the tunnels and potting up for our first fall plant sale of the heirloom chrysanthemums. To keep the crew cool they have been exclusively focused on planting and starting the day at 6:00am to end early and try to save ourselves from the heat.

While farm team has been heads down in mums everyone else has been feverishly working for our biggest event of the year-FLOWER FAIR!

This Saturday from 10am-2pm we are going to have the most fun flower-filled party you could ever imagine. Literally something for everyone. Come out and enjoy pick-your-own, farm tours, live music, and the best selection of food trucks! That’s nowhere near all, there will be a flower judging contest so bring out a bloom you grew to enter in our barn and enjoy the mum walk (our version of a cake walk) and win a garden to plant at home!

We have some amazing community partners from the underground mobile soil class room, the beekeepers, flippy the recycling whale, and puppy adoptions with RHSPCA! I can’t even list all the cool people you will want to come check out.

Of course, we will have flower crafts with lots of fun, quick flower and garden crafts and activities, along with a flower crown station too! The little gardeners might enjoy painting with flowers, our sunflower sensory pool, or a deep dig in the dirt to find “artifacts”. My daughter Addie and all her friends will be offering face painting and temporary tattoos. Mary and I can’t wait to visit Glitter Bee for some custom glitter and hair tinsel and you better believe we will be grabbing some yummy cotton candy from posh fairy floss too!

It’s gonna be hot so wear comfy light-colored clothes and maybe pack a spare change because we will have a sprinkler tunnel to cool down as you help us stomp in our next sunflower seed crop and a lovely misting tunnel along with lots of melting floral ice sculptures.

Come spend a day and bring the family out to enjoy the best of American-grown Flowers month in the Shenandoah Valley this Saturday!

XOXO, Jess
